Bukhara Travel Guide

Bukhara is one of the oldest cities in Uzbekistan and an important hub of the Great Silk Road. The history of the city spans over 2,000 years, while Uzbek tourism sources note its age as exceeding 2,500 years. The historical center of Bukhara was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1993.

For centuries, Bukhara has been a center of commerce, science, Islamic culture, and crafts. Today, with its narrow streets, ancient madrasas, mosques, minarets, and trading domes, its old town resembles an open-air historical city.
