Khiva Travel Guide

Khiva is one of the most ancient cities in Uzbekistan, with a history spanning over 2,500 years. The city was one of the important centers located on the northern branch of the Great Silk Road.

The greatest treasure of Khiva is Ichan-Kala. This is a historic inner city surrounded by high defensive walls, where mosques, madrasas, palaces, mausoleums, minarets, shopping rows, and ancient houses have been preserved. Ichan-Kala was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1990.

Today's Khiva is not just a collection of historical monuments. It is a living museum-city where people still live and work.
